We sure does get a lot of useful information using the internet, but one of its downsides is…it is full of fake things and misinformation made by those people who want to gain attention and of course money. That was the case when a photo of an Asian man eating a ‘fetus’ spread like wildfire over the internet. What is the truth behind this photo? Is it true or just another hoax?


In the early months of year 2001, rumors of cannibalism began to circulate widely online, typically accompanied by graphic images of a Chinese man eating what appeared to be a cooked aborted baby served at a restaurant. The picture is commonly describe with a message saying:

What u are going to witness here is a fact, don’t get scared !” It’s China’s/Taiwan’s hottest food…” In China/Taiwan, dead babies or fetuses could be bought at $50 to $70 from hospitals to meet the high demand for grilled and barbecued babies…What a sad state of affairs!!



Recipients were encouraged to forward the mail attached with the disgusting photos.




But this rumor of cannibalism sparked even more in mid-March of 2001, when Warta Perdana a small Malaysian tabloid reported that a certain Taiwanese restaurant was serving a dish consisting of the baked flesh of human fetuses.

The growing international controversy began to achieve a modicum of legitimacy which later gained the attention of law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, CIA and Scotland Yard to investigate the matter. Trying to figure out who the man is and when and where the offending photos were taken, the origins of the images were quickly uncovered.
